Thanks to an awesome person (mr. Ian Abando), I'm lucky enough to participate in the Cup O' Doodle blog. Here are some of the better results from that:
In other news, I'm moving to Boulder, CO. shaWING!
We went to the LA Museum of Natural History today to check out the (somewhat) newly opened hall of dinosaurs. I was trying to do Norm's teaching justice, but I was definitely rusty. missing you Norm. so we drew us some bones then decided hot dogs were in order. Minus the mobs of screaming children, it was a good day.
So just a week after graduation I took a oil painting color class with the great Bill Perkins. Not only was it a joy to work in oil again, but Bill helped me to start thinking about color in a whole new way (I hope). Most of it was doing 40 minute studies from setups that he created using different lighting situations to highlight different color concepts. Here's a few of the better examples from his class. Apparently I have forgotten how to properly photograph oil paintings.
Well, I haven't quite dropped off the face of the earth, but it definitely feels like it a little bit. So just to tide you over until i finally get to fixing the paintings from Bill Perkins' workshop (omigodAMAZING) here's some sketches that I banged out at work while waiting for this n that.
